The Team
Sue Dunn
Director and 3 & 4 year old Teacher
Sue has been involved in the education of young children for the past 19
years. Middle Park Kindergarten has been very fortunate to have her as its early childhood educator for the 3 year old and 4 year old groups since February 1998.
Sue has a Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood and a Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies (International Baccalaureate).
Sue has been involved in the education of young children working in both rural and city kindergartens.
Young children are very active, curious and have a strong desire to construct meaning about their world through their interactions with the environment around them. As an educator of young children she sees her role as one to create an environment that provides opportunities for meaningful inquiry into areas that interest the children.
In recent years she has been influenced by the Educators of the Reggio Emilia Educational Project in Italy as well as the Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate. These two approaches compliment each other in that they view the child as a very capable learner and take an inquiry based approach to learning. Her studies in the Primary Years Programme have helped her with the curriculum development and assessment. Both programs support the development of skills that will encourage our young children to become life long learners.
In life after work she enjoys spending time with her partner Ron and her three teenage children, walking the dog, reading, friends and going bush as often as possible.
